Stupid Bot Nets

Don't Get 0wn3d

This is lame, I know that there is a lot of Spam out there but there is also a lot of "you need to download this ecard or download this fix for your computer" but what it is, is a tracking link that tells the system that you exist and then gets you to download a bot net program.

These things popped up a wile back in ecards, saying "your grandma sent you a card, download to receive it" but it owns your computer now. And then turns your computer into a mail server pushing out loads of spam, DoS attacks, or viruses.

But now I am seeing these "this is a second email containing a link to the windows registry fix download now" that dose the same thing as those ecard deals. In these emails they give you opt out links that probably still download the malware, and they also include mailing addresses. What is funny is the un-subscribe address and the customer service address are on opposite sides of the Country.

So what don't we do? DO NOT OPEN EMAIL ATTACHMENTS WE WEREN'T EXPECTING OR CLICK LINKS FROM UNKNOWN SOURCES!!!

Below are a few links to some Anti-Virus / Anti-Spam tools, so look them over and see what one would sute you.

Norton AntiVirus 2009 - 2-yr Protection
Computer Associates' Internet Security Suite
Panda Antivirus Pro 2009
