Google Public DNS

Google now offers public DNS servers, guess there doing that same thing as OpenDNS is doing. But when you go to a page that isn't there you well get a Google search? Well here is what is on there site http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ :

What is Google Public DNS?

Google Public DNS is a free, global Domain Name System (DNS)resolution service, that you can use as an alternative to your current DNS provider.

Windows 7 RC Build 7100 on a P4 Laptop

Well I installed Windows 7 RC build 7100 on my laptop the other night to see whats different. Not much seems to have changed since build 7000, but I haven't looked too hard. As for running on an older laptop it runs great, not all the fun transparency stuff is there but it looks nice still and no lag running programs.

Samsung SSD Awesomeness

I heard a few days ago well lissing to a podcast them talking about a group testing 24 SSD drives showing the speed and things they could do with Raid. Any way I happened on the video after watching some sheep with lights playing pong that my Dad sent me... so any ways here is the SSD fun :)

Windows XP is still good!

Why is it that all these tech journalists all think that every one should have jumped to Windows Vista and when Windows 7 comes out that they well have to jump to it too. Most people wont use it since there computers now run great under Windows XP and don't need up upgrade the computer just to run Vista. And the companies that use XP don't see the reason ether since all there tasks can be done on XP.

Windows 7 Died

Well a few days ago I did an update to Windows 7 on my Belkin USB wireless adapter and it stoped working. And to make it worse I downloaded the drivers for my Nvidea card and it insalled the Windows 7 beta and now the video dosnt work. So I havent been using it and have been using Windows XP since I was doing bills and my my taxes. I'll see if I get time soon to try and boot to safe mode and replace the drivers and get it going agin.

Live From Windows 7 Its Working

Just though I should post that I got Windows 7 up and running just fine, been going for a few hours I was just spending time with my Lady. Set up was easy, ran in to a little problem, my CPU doesn't support 64-bit so I had to stick with 32-bit boo. I had to use a XP driver to get my USB wireless adapter to work since there was no Visa driver on the disk.

Windows 7 Fully Download

Well I have gotten Windows 7 Beta fully downloaded and burned to DVD disks. Now the next step is to try and install it on my extra 120GB hard drive on my main computer. Because I don't want to lose any thing I well be un-plunging the SATA cable from my save disk and main disk running Windows XP with every thing how I like it.

I well be trying to post when I have it installed and running, hope my USB wireless adapter works and every thing else too for that mater. Most likely my Sound Blaster Live card wont run since that was the problem I had with Vista along with it being slow.

Windows 7 Beta Product Key

Well I just got online and to my surprise Microsoft got there Product Key generator working and is serving up Windows 7 Beta keys just fine, so good I got 2 32-bit and 2 64-bit haha. But they have problems with the download link on the page that has your key on it just seems to load and then not go anywhere. But when you do get a key make sure you "Please print this page for your records." because you well need it when you do your install.

OpenOffice.org 3.0 Out

Well I just read though my email and found out that OpenOffice.org 3.0 is out. Then right above it I saw that the site is down because every one is trying to get it. That's always not so handy. So I am downloading it now and I well be hosting if for a wile on my site to help others get it.

I haven't tried it out yet, but I hope it is cleaner then older ones. Right now I use Microsoft Office 2007 just because it works well, but I know my Grandpa likes OpenOffice.org for its powers and free. Grandpa has used just about any office package out there.
